專家說明

The LNER Class A3 Pacific steam locomotive No. 4472 Flying Scotsman (originally No. 1472) was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works. It was employed on long-distance express trains on the LNER, the most famous of which was the 10am London to Edinburgh 'Flying Scotsman' service after which it was named. The train represented the company at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924 and 1925. Before this event, in February 1924 it acquired its name and the number of 4472.
