FOUR MINIATURES, EACH ACCOMPANIED BY A ONE- OR TWO-SIDED BORDER OF LEAFY SPRAYS depicting Sts John the Evangelist, Andrew, Margaret, and Catherine, three two-line foliate initials on gold grounds, four similar one-line initials, three short line-fillers (a few small areas of flaking pigment). In a giltwood frame carved with putti, glazed on both sides (some loss of gilding).

Both leaves come from the Suffrages (usually found towards the end of a Book of Hours): the first has the end of a devotion to St James, a complete one to John the Evangelist, and the start of another to Andrew; the second has the end of a devotion to Mary Magdalene, a complete one to Margaret, and the start of another to Catherine. Such suffrages are often unillustrated, so the parent volume was therefore doubtless extremely lavishly decorated. (2)
