Reference 5036 was in production from 1948 until 1951, and replaced the reference 4767, the first Oyster Datocompax model. Production of the 5036 lasted for only a short period of time because it was quickly replaced by the reference 6036, which featured a three-part case.
Different variations of reference 5036 are described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pg. 376-379.
