This painting was previously in the collection of the Russian-born English artist Arthur Haffkin(1902-1991). He travelled extensively to China and India and painted what he saw throughout the journeys. In 1964, he exhibited his works at Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry in the UK. According to the markings at the back of the frame, it is believed that Mr. Haffkin purchased this painting in Beijing in 1957.
