The shaped circular backplate of each pierced with foliage and baskets of fruit, topped with an openwork acorn-capped tied bow, the single light with spool-shaped socket and foliage-chased wax-pan, each engraved on the back with a scratchweight '17=15'

專家說明

This unmarked pair of sconces are part of a small group of similar wall lights which date from around 1685. A very similar pair of wall lights with marks for London, 1684 and maker's mark I.L with coronet above are illustrated in C. J. Jackson, The History of English Plate, London, 1911, p. 857, pl. 1114. A further pair with maker's mark D, London, 1685 are in the collection of the Melbourne Museum, Australia.
