With Longines original fitted blue presentation box.
According to the Archives of Longines, the present Conquest Calendar wristwatch, fitted with calibre 19 AS was invoiced on June 16, 1959 to the company's agent Wirth in Switzerland. The watch was produced in 1959 as a reference 9008. During a routine servicing the case back was exchanged for a case back of a reference 9005, which is also for a gold Conquest Calendar and thus a legitimate substitute as case backs of certain models are exchangeable.
The present watch is a fine and well-preserved example of a 1950's Longines Conquest Calendar model, still retaining the box it was sold with. The watch captures the eye of the observer with the lustre of its gold dial while the facetted gold dagger numerals and facetted and polished chapter ring harmonize perfectly with the watch face. The flat polished bezel rounds off this fine timepiece. In its unspoilt condition, this fine timepiece with its engine-turned 6 mm. Longines period crown and attractive symbol on the back - showing a blue enamel night sky above the raging sea - is a rare find for any serious Longines collector.
