With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised yellow gold indexes in 1949 and its subsequent sale on 20 October 1950.
The present watch has never been offered in public before and is distinguished by its later and very rare pulsation scale calibrated for 15 pulsations on a beautiful two-tone dial. This is only the fourth yellow gold ref. 130 with such a pulsation scale to appear on the market. Of these four, two featured Roman numerals, while the other two, including this one, featured Arabic numerals.
It is interesting to note that so far only two yellow gold wristwatches with scales calibrated for 30 pulsations have come up in public sales.
The watch was purchased in Geneva by a generalist doctor, who practiced in the city of Calvin from 1957 to 1993.
According to the Extract, the watch originally left the manufacturer with a tachometer scale. However, the client bought it already featuring the current pulsation scale. It is not recorded when the dial change happened. The watch had been a faithful and cherished companion over the years to the owner, who looked after it in the most respectful manner.
The production of the simple chronograph with reference 130 was launched in 1934. The model was produced in different precious metal versions as well as in stainless steel.
Examples of Ref. 130 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by M. Huber and A. Banbery, Second Edition, pp. 262 to 264.
