專家說明
The present watch is a beautiful example of a "Paul Newman model" Rolex, impressing by its excellent champagne dial and very good overall condition with sharp lugs and a gold mark on the underside of the upper left lug. The black bezel with white tachymetre scale appealingly frames the striking champagne watch face with its intriguing square-shaped indexes inside the subsidiary dials.
The bracelet of the watch is stamped 3.69 on the clasp, which is correct for the period.
Reference 6241 was introduced to the market in the early 1960s and remained in production until around 1969. Available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold, it was fitted with the "non-Oyster" or "non-screw down" chronograph buttons and a bezel with black plastic insert, the tachymetre scale printed in white. Models in 14K gold were exclusively reserved for the North American market. The dials featured the designations "Rolex Cosmograph" but not always the "Daytona". The so-called "exotic" Paul Newman dials also available for reference 6241 were in two-coloured white/cream and black.
For detailed descriptions and illustrations of reference 6241 see Rolex Daytona - A Legend is Born by Carlo Pergola, Stefano Mazzariol, Giovanni Dosso, pp. 94-108, I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 312-319, as well as 100 Superlative Rolex Watches by John Goldberger, pp. 238-261. And 100 Years of Rolex by Franca and Guido Mondani, pp. 125-127.
