專家說明

This figure is related to the one of Hebe in Natoire's painting Jupiter served by Hebe (Troyes, Musée d'Art et Histoire; Caviglia-Brunel P.16). Another study for the same figure by Natoire was recently discovered and subsequently acquired by the Musée d'Art et Histoire in Troyes (Caviglia-Brunel D.104).

Hebe was the goddess of youth, patron goddess of young brides and cupbearer to the gods. Here she is shown with her traditional attribute, her pitcher, from which she pours ambrosia.
