This Blancpain Grande Complication 1735 is Blancpain's chef d'oeuvre, merging six of their earlier pieces into a single masterpiece. After six years of research, the star of all Blancpain wristwatches had finally come to life and was named 1735 in homage to the date of foundation of the Blancpain manufacture.
With its 740 individual hand-finished parts, the 1735 offers the perpetual calendar, the split seconds chronograph, the minute repeater, the tourbillon and is an astonishing technical tour-de-force, each single piece taking 365 days to complete.
This "gem" of horology was created by two legendary figures working at the summit of complex horology for more than 30 years; Dominique Loiseau and Jean-Claude Biver. Artisan and teacher at the International Museum of Watchmaking in La Chaux-de-Fonds, restorer of collector's timepieces and automata, Dominique Loiseau is also the creator of exceptional pocket watches such as Renaissance and Capriccio, the world acclaimed Rose des Temps clock, the six Montres de Sables and the Alpha-Omega automaton. Dominique Loiseau is clearly an unequivocal and truly authentic horological inventor of an exceptional level, a master watchmaker who has created timepieces of every type of complexity, either as unique pieces or in highly limited editions. As for Jean-Claude Biver, one of the top names in the Swiss watch industry, along with the late Nicolas Hayek, CEO and board chairman of Swatch Group, are both credited with saving the Swiss watch industry from the quartz movement. Jean-Claude Biver had very successful stints leading watch brands Blancpain and Omega, followed by Hublot, a company he is credited with turning into one of the world's most successful Swiss luxury watch brands.
