專家說明

It has been suggested that the sitters may be the three eldest children of Lucien Bonaparte, Principe di Canino (1775-1840), who was a friend of the artist and younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. His eldest daughter Charlotte was born in 1795, followed by Christine in 1798 and a son, Charles Lucien, was born in 1803. A similar double-portrait of children by Châtillon is illustrated in L. Capon, Il Museo Napoleonico, Rome, 1986, p. 20.
