Modelled standing with one foot forward, holding an axe over one shoulder supporting a sack of tools and a saw, a small cloth bag in his right hand and a hammer tucked into the apron around his waist, in a black hat, yellow scarf, a white waistcoat with gilt buttons, white coat and pale yellow breeches, the mound base applied with flowers and leaves (blade of axe chipped, right hand restored through wrist, hammer lacking at waist, hairline crack to tree-stump and left ankle)
