Inlaid throughout with scrolling foliage, the upper chest with two side carrying handles fitted with nine drawers above a lower section with two short frieze drawers above a deep drawer flanked by female caryatids with scroll feet on blocks, some differences in carving to the caryatids, restorations

專家說明

The form of this cabinet is one which was often reproduced under Portuguese patronage in India. The Western inspiration behind the form is a straightforward seventeenth century cabinet on stand.
A related chest with similar seaweed marquetry was sold, Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds, Christie's London, 31 March 2009, lot 300 and an example with similar caryatids was sold, The Durate Pinto Coelho Collection, 20 & 21 July 2011, lot 300.
