A virtually identical pair of candelabra, with classical ladies holding aloft cornucopiae, was acquired by the pioneering American collector Colonel James Swan in Paris in the late 18th Century and are now in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (for more information on Swan's collecting please see note to lot 124). Other related candelabra including a pair in Empress Maria Feodorovna's boudoir in Pavlovsk Palace (illustrated in A. Kuchomov, Pavlovsk Palace and Park, Leningrad, 1976, fig. 71), while a further larger pair was sold from the collection of Ariane Dandois, Sotheby's, New York, 25 October 2007, lot 277 ($58,000 inc. premium).
