The lower part with three vertically divided 18th-century bevelled mirror plates, the painting depicting a view of a Dutch canal with carriages and elegant figures in the foreground, the reverse chalked ?Dec 8. 37 and Oakover, the frame reduced to fit the canvas

Acquired by the vendor at the Lord Camoys house sale (conducted by Phillips), Stonor Park, Henley, 28 and 29 January 1976, lot 472 (as early 18th century).
