The arms and monogram are those of George II. These meat dishes were apparently issued by the Jewel Office to John, 4th Marquess of Tweeddale, as Indenture Plate upon his appointment as Principal Secretary of State for Scotland in 1742 (Sotheby's, New York, 13 October 2007, lot 90).
