拍品 4737 In this, the year of the Dragon, Christie's is proud to offer the collection, in the following three watches, that embodies this majestic creature. The Dragon represents a symbol of good fortune and strength, an honored beast, to be revered and respected. Dragons are free spirits, not to be confined or hindered. Their confidence comes from within and is not a thing of hubris. One can apply the same definition to the firm of Patek Philippe. Not flashy or showy but confident in its place in the history and future of horology. They are the Dragon: full of forward thinking ideas, grandiose advances and horological gifts that know no bounds.

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 9 March 2010, instruction manual, product literature, leather envelope, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
The present reference 5131 is a tribute to Patek Philippe's vintage world time watches (please see lot 4769), which are today amongst the rarest treasures, especially when highlighted by a superb cloisonné enamel dial such as the present contemporary example.
Reference 5131 was produced in two different case materials with two different cloisonné enamel dials. The yellow gold version displays the Americas, Europe and Africa, while the white gold version, such as the present example, displays Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
A detailed count reveals that only one other example is known to have appeared at auction to date.
Reference 5131 is today discontinued and no longer listed in Patek Philippe's catalogues.
