CASE: the brass-lined and bound breakarch case with single pad top, corbel front mounts and fishscale side frets, on bracket feet DIAL: the 4 inch plain brass plate with white enamel dial with gilt chapters and signed 'GRANT/Fleet Street/LONDON/No.184', 'strike/silent' dial above, later blued steel moon hands MOVEMENT: five pillar with twin line fusees and anchor escapement, hour strike and trip repeat on bell, the backplate further engraved 'J.GRANT/Fleet Street/LONDON/No.184', the pendulum with fine adjustment

專家說明

John Grant was apprenticed to his illustrious uncle, Alexander Cumming. He was made Free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1781 and later appointed a Warden. He worked at 75 Fleet Street. Upon his death in 1810 he was succeeded by his son, also called John.
