專家說明

This signed clock, with original works, is a fine example of Daniel Burnap's accuracy and artistry in the design, fabrication, finishing and assembly of the clockwork mechanism. In 1774, Burnap traveled to Norwich, Connecticut to study the art of clockmaking under Thomas Harland. Harland, an English-born craftsman who imigrated to the colonies in 1773, emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in clockmaking. Under Harland's tutelage, Burnap mastered the production of every necessary working component in his clocks.
