專家說明

In her obituary of 2006, Stella Snead is remembered for her fascination with other cultures and countries. Born in London and later inspired by her three years of study at the Academy of Fine Art, Stella Snead began with the medium of paint working in the seclusion of her mother's home in Sutton. Following a trip to New York in 1939, she was drawn to the art of the surreal and then travelled coast to coast and down to Mexico - "I had never felt space so completely", she recalled.
Further travels by train in India captured her imagination and she moved back to live there between 1956 and 1971. It was during this time that her photography skills flourished as she documented ancient monuments into described as a "conglomeration of glimpses".
