專家說明
Jean Étienne Saint-Georges, maître 1747, was son of menusier Étienne Saint-Georges and brother-in-law and partner to Claude I Sené. He is recorded at his father's workshop at rue de Cléry, but established his own identity and style through the influence of sculptors such as Pierre Groult, Vincent Nauroy and Nicolas Grouel, while working for marchands-merciers such as the Prèsle brothers. Known for his work in the Louis XV taste, his fauteuils range from simple utilitarian pieces to stately models of exceptional quality. A related pair of fauteuils was sold Christie's, Paris, 25 June 2008, lot 310 (£7,200 including premium, after sale).
