With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with diamond hour markers in 1949 and its subsequent sale on 11 February 1950.

The platinum reference of the iconic reference 2442 is unquestionably amongst Patek Philippe's most impressive, important and valuable post war designs. Its generous case proportions and fluid lines lend it a seductive presence hardly ever achieved by any other rectangular wristwatch, today as amazing as it must have been a sensation when first presented in 1948.

Generally cased in yellow or pink gold, so far only three examples of this model in platinum are known to scholars. Last offered at auction in 2003 and preserved in very original condition, the present platinum "Marilyn Monroe" (as also affectionately referred to by collectors) is the ultimate time only dress watch for the sophisticated watch collector.
