The present lantern is based upon a design by Thomas Chippendale in The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker's Director, 3rd Edition, 1762, pl. CLIII. This and other lighting at both Cowdray House and Dunecht was most likely supplied by Lenygon & Co. Interior Decorators, of 31 Old Burlington Street.
