專家說明

Until the nineteenth century the Sultans still practised the art of archery, and competitions were held at the Okmeydani or archery ground. This field was located on the north side of the Golden Horn, in the hills above Kasimpaça. Particularly remarkable long-range shots by the Sultans were commemorated by a series of marble pillars, acting as markers, as can be seen in this image. This view is taken from the hill looking south-east towards the old city.
