專家說明

The elegant X-shaped stool, of which the present work is the third version, was inspired by the "curule legs" of an iron Spanish armchair gallerist Aimé Maeght brought to Diego's studio in the mid-1960s.

The double signature on the present lot is relatively common. As Daniel Marchesseau writes: "[works] are signed at the foundry according to the sample submitted by the artist. Because of this, some pieces of furniture may bear several signatures. The most remarkable example of this phenomenon is a table belonging to James Lord that bears, either inadvertantly or as a joke, four signatures" (op. cit., p. 189).
