CIRCA 1820, PROBABLY YORKSHIRE
Of Pratt-type, each modeled as a gardener and companion flanking a tall-case clock, its top slit to receive money, the hands set at 12:40, a lion recumbent in the front of one, a spotted spaniel in front of the other, both on feather-molded rectangular bases sponged in panels of ochre, black and cobalt
8 in. (21.8 cm.) high (lion); 9 in. (22.9 cm.) high (spaniel) (2)

With Leo Kaplan Ltd., New York, 1985 and 1986.

專家說明

As can be seen when comparing the present lot with lots 36 and 38 in this sale, many permutations exist of this model, variations occurring in the figures flanking the clock and the animal recumbent in the foreground. Cf. John and Griselda Lewis, Pratt Ware, 1984, pp. 91.
