專家說明

The scenes were taken from John Hall's (1739 - 1797) engraving after the 1772 painting of this subject by Benjamin West (1738 - 1820), now in the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Bed and window curtains in the same design and color were in the 1788 sale of the furnishings of Solitude, the Philadelphia home of John Penn, Jr., grandson of William. Another textile in this design in the collection is printed in red. Dilys E. Blum, from The Fine Art of Textiles: The Collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (1997), p. 33.
