Attributed to Nicolaes Berchem (Haarlem 1620-1683 Amsterdam)

This study of a female peasant carrying a goat relates to the figure in the foreground of the picture by Berchem, recorded in the collection of Baron Nathaniel von Rothschild by 1926 and sold in these Rooms on the 12th December 1980, lot 57 (see fig. 1).
