專家說明

The arms are those of Cropley Ashley-Cooper, the 6th Earl of Shaftesbury (1768-1851) who was educated at Winchester and Oxford. He married Lady Anne, daughter of George Spencer, the 4th Duke of Marlborough in 1796 and succeeded his father in 1811. From 1814 until 1851, he was the Chairman of Committees in the House of Lords and described as "... a man of undignified presence, of indistinct and hurried speech, of hasty and brusque manner; but there was a general impression that the House of Lords could not have had a more efficient Chairman."
