專家說明

Jean-Louis Morin is recorded at Vincennes and Sèvres 1754-1787. A versatile painter, his mark is recorded on pieces decorated with figures, birds and flowers. However, it is for his military and quayside scenes such as those found on the present cup and saucer that he is particularly renowned.

A vase painted with the same beach scene as on the present saucer is in the collection of Waddesdon Manor. See Svend Eriksen, Sèvres Porcelain, The James A. de Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor, p. 199, no. 72.
