A CARVED WOOD MODEL OF A CEYLONESE DUG OUT OUTRIGGER PROA

The Ceylonese Proa was used for fishing, transportation and cargo carrying. The boat takes its name from its pattern of sail. The identical ends of the hull create an inter-changeable bow and stern, allowing the boat to sale in either direction depending on the wind.
