FIRST EDITION. An employee of the Hudson's Bay Company, the author lived among the Indians of Canada over a period of nineteen years, gaining a thorough and intimate knowledge of the character, customs and domestic life of the native tribes. "His is a graphic record of Indian life and customs and of conditions in the fur trade during the furious competition of the Montreal traders among themselves and with the Hudson's Bay Co."
