Purchased by John Poyntz, 5th Earl Spencer (1835-1910) from Philips and Pearce, London, 1869, following his appointment as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in 1868.
W.B. Honey, Catalogue of the Porcelain and Pottery both Oriental and European in the Collection of Earl Spencer at Althorp, 1937, no. 952, transcribed bill: - 'Bought of W.P and G. Philips and Pearce, 115, New Bond Street. March 1st, 1869. 120 Plates at £156.0.0, 22 7½ in. tazzas at £112.0.0, 20 4½ in. tazzas at £97.16.0, 30 2½ in. tazzas at £75.0.0, 8 8½ in. tazzas at £92.8.0, 193 Coronets and monograms on above £67.4.0' - totalling £570.8s. after a small discount.
