Contemporary binding of gilt metal over red velvet, the hinged covers pierced and chased with scrolling foliage, the centre with two cherubs supporting an earl's coronet with central cipher, the spine pierced and chased with panels of fruit and foliage, engraved textblock retainers, clasps adorned with classical female figures, edges gauffered and gilt, doublures composed of a red velvet border enclosing a panel of yellow watered-silk, yellow watered-silk liners (some very light tarnishing and rubbing to extremities, old replacement pin to upper clasp hinge, lower clasp slightly bent).
