Each oblong with shell and foliage heightened gadrooned border, the detachable covers with similar border and with detachable foliage scroll and shell handle above detachable foliage calyx, the cover engraved with a coat-of-arms, the case engraved with two crests, marked on side of base and cover and on handle and calyx

The arms are those of Cust quartering Brownlow with a cresent for difference impaling Needham, for Rev'd Henry Cockayne Cust (1780-1861), second son of Brownlow Cust, 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton, and his wife Lady Anna Maria Needham, (d.1866), eldest daugher of Francis Needham, 1st Earl of Kilmorey.
