JAQUET DROZ, PETITE HEURE MINUTE

WHITE GOLD AUTOMATIC WRISTWATCH WITH LAPIS LAZULI DIAL, UNIQUE EDITION
拍品 2936 Pierre Jacquet Droz was born in 1721 and his talent for mechanics first expressed itself in the creation of complicated automated figures. These marvels such as a barking dog and child at the drawing desk led to Droz being suspected of witchcraft. To have the skill to create what we would regard as robots in the eighteenth century, is evidence of Droz's talent for mechanical objects. Not many master watchmakers can claim to have perfected their craft with such finesse that it was not thought humanly possible. Jaquet Droz soon began to devote more attention to horology when he set up the first organized watch making factory in Geneva in 1784.

Today, Jacquet Droz is a member of the Swatch Group and it is known for its rarity and use of fine materials. Many of the series are made in auspicious editions of eight or eighty-eight pieces. To horological connoisseurs such as our Collector, the use of exquisite materials in the dial such as meteorite, nuumite, spectrolite and other semi-precious geological materials hold great charm. In this present collection, he has brought together the Grande Seconde with its fortuitous numeral 8-shaped carbon fibre dial, the Petite Heure Minute with a stunning blue lapis lazuli dial and the Grande Second Email Noir Ardoise with its jet black enamel dial.
