專家說明

A design for a candelabum of six lights, illustrated in Jean-Marie Pinçon, Odiot l'Orfèvre, 1990, p. 96, no. 149, exhibits the Roman lamp-form sockets and leaf bands of the present examples. That design, an inkwash, was done by Cavelier for Odiot in 1818, and may well have been the model for these candelabra and the candlesticks in the following lot.

A pair of silver-gilt six-light candelabra, and a silver four-light candelabrum of the same style, both also by Jean-Baptiste Claude Odiot, 1809-1819, are illustrated in Pinçon, p. 125, no. 199 and p. 133, no. 214.
