The brass-inlaid frieze is a pattern seen on pieces by George Bullock, for example the magnificent pair of scagliola and Mona marble-topped side cabinets inlaid with brass and veneered in rosewood and ebony, that was supplied to John James, 9th Earl and 1st Marquess of Abercorn, probably for Bentley Priory, Stanmore (see C. Wainwright, et al, George Bullock, Cabinet-maker, London, 1988, p. 85, no. 23).
