專家說明

Sir Richard Wingfield (1550-1634) was granted Powerscourt by King James I in 1609 and created 1st Viscount Powerscourt in 1618. The title was revived for the third time in 1742 for Richard Wingfield (1697-1751), who commissioned the German born protégé, Richard Castle, to rebuild the house. In 1858, the 7th Viscount Powerscourt established a deer park around the 121 meter waterfall in the grounds, resulting in the successful introduction of the Japanese Sika to Ireland. The house and gardens remain highly celebrated.
