Félix Bracquemond, together with his contemporaries Auguste Rodin, Jules Cheret and Albert Besnard, was commissioned by industrialist and banker Baron Joseph Vitta to produce a series of decorative objects for use in his villa on Lake Geneva.
A hand-mirror designed by Auguste Rodin and Bracquemond was also executed by goldsmith Alexandre Riquet and is now in the Cleveland Museum of Modern Art.
Félix Bracquemond is credited with introducing Japanese woodcuts to the West which profoundly influenced the development of Art Nouveau in France.
