Maria Madrazo was the sister of Proust's closest friend, the tenor and composer, Renaldo Hahn. Her husband, Raymundo de Madrazo, was the uncle of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, the most famost courtier of the day, whose clothes Proust incorporated in his Temps perdu.
