A SEVRES GREEN-GROUND RECTANGULAR TEA-CADDY (BOITE A THE)
CIRCA 1757, INDISTINCT INCISED MARK
With fluted angles, the sides probably painted by Buteux with musical trophies tied with ribbons and garlands of flowers within gilt oval foliage cartouches, the shallow domed shoulder with radiating gilt-edged panels enclosing entwined gilt oak branches (minute footrim chip, minute wear to gilt footrim)
2¾ in. (7 cm.) high

Most probably acquired by James, 2nd Marquess of Abercorn (1811-1885), later created 1st Duke of Abercorn in 1868, and thence by descent.
