專家說明

The work of John Brett was greatly influenced by the work of John Inchbold and the Pre-Raphaelites, he was much praised by John Ruskin, who became a great friend. First exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1856, he concentrated almost entirely on seascapes and landscapes, especially around the coast of Britain and in particular of Cornwall. it was his custom to inscribe his works with location and precise date of execution, in this case telling us the exact location and day. At one time a busy fishing cove, Porthgwarra is a few miles southeast of Lands End, at the tip of Cornwall.
