A GROUP OF ANTIQUE FOB SEALS AND CHARMS
Including a gold, sapphire, ruby and enamel swivel fob seal, the handle designed as two coiled snakes with ruby detail holding a white enamel cut-cornered rectangular plaque supporting a sapphire seal-engraved with the initial N with Royal crown above; a gold mounted swivel fob seal, inset with an onyx plaque engraved with a coat-of-arms and a lapis lazuli plaque engraved with L cypher, each with Marquess' coronet above; a late 18th century gold mounted fob seal inset with an oval cornelian plaque engraved with Arabic inscription; an oval gold pendant engraved to one side with L cypher with a princess' coronet above; a faceted rock crystal swivel seal engraved with a monogram to the gilt metal handle; a coin pendant pierced with an inscription; a gold pendant, with miniature cross, heart and anchor
The initial N on the first fob seal is almost certainly for Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (1872-1938), father of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-1968)
The arms on the second swivel fob seal are for the Marquess of Lorne
The L cypher and the inscription on the oval pendant are for Princess Louise (1848-1939), third daughter of Queen Victoria (1819-1901), in commemoration of her mariage to John, Marquess of Lorne, later 9th Duke of Argyll (1845-1913) on 21 March 1871, the reverse engraved 'from the people of Tyree';
The inscription on the coin pendant reads 'Nikolaos' for Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark (1872-1938), father of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (1906-1968). (7)
