專家說明

The present lot is one of the exceedingly rare marine chronometers made by the renowned Jules Jürgensen to appear in public, furthermore standing out by its small size.

Appointed watchmakers and clockmakers to the Danish Court and Royal Navy, the members of the Jürgensen dynasty, notably Urban Jürgensen and his son Jules Frederik, were renowned for the precision of their marine chronometers, chronometers and astronomical pendulum clocks. Greatly appreciated for their accuracy and reliability, Jürgensen chronometers were supplied to the Admiralty, merchant shipping companies, astronomers and for geographical survey work.
