THE PROVENANCE
David Sylvester (1924-2001) was a noted British art critic, curator and collector. He predominantly wrote on Modern and Contemporary art and was a particular champion of Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. He was a passionate, eclectic collector with interests including Islamic, Indian, Tribal and Asian art who obsessively rotated his collection to explore new harmonies between seemingly disparate collecting fields.
