專家說明

Previously considered the work of a pupil of Albrecht Dürer, possibly Hans Springinklee, Matthias Mende now firmly and convincingly attributes this woodcut to Dürer himself.
Saint Sebald is a patron saint of the city of Nuremberg. The church of Saint Sebald, a model of which he carries in the present woodcut, holds the relics of hermit and has dominated the northern side of the city for centuries. The church is only a few steps away from the place where the artist was born, and where he lived and worked for most of his life. It was here that Dürer was baptised, where he married and where most of his family was buried.
