專家說明
This pattern of French-fashioned cabriolet chair, with poetic trophy of a laurelled and sunflowered patera tied to its antique-fluted and medallioned back, corresponds to that of a chair bearing the journeyman's stamp 'WS', offered Christie's New York, 18 October 2005, lot 557). The latter also featured a fluted seat rail, as did others sold at Christie's London, 22 January 2009, lot 17. Another chair with fluted rail forms part of the Frederick Parker Collection and was acquired pre-1914 (see London Metropolitan University, The Frederick Parker Collection, 2008, p.47, no. FP177).
The 'FS' brand was also recorded on a chair supplied in 1782 by Francis Hervé to William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire (see Christie's, London, 5 June 2008, lot 43.)
