Die Vision des Dichters, ein Spätwerk von Johann Heinrich Füssli, war Vorlage für das Titelblatt zur Publikation 'Poems' des englischen Dichters William Cowper (1731-1800). Über dem auf dem Sofa eingeschlafenen Dichter schwebt die Muse der Dichtkunst, die ihm einen Lorbeerkranz aufsetzt. Hinter dieser ist die Verkörperung der Phantasie dargestellt. Ganz links auf dem Bild sind ein offenes Buch und eine Maus auszumachen.
Die Vision des Dichters, a late work of Henry Fuseli, was the artwork for the title page of the publication 'Poems' by the English poet William Cowper (1731-1800). Over the poet asleep on the sofa, floats the muse of the poetic arts, who places a laurel wreath on him. Behind this, the embodiment of the fantasy is represented. To the far left of the picture an open book and a mouse are depicted.
