專家說明

The sitter was the daughter of Thomas Pelham, 1st Baron Pelham of Laughton (d. 1712), and sister of Thomas Pelham-Holles, 1st Duke of Newcastle-under-Line. She married in May 1717 Henry Clinton, 7th Earl of Lincoln (1684-1728), who served as Paymaster of the Forces (1715-27), Constable of the Tower of London (1723-5) and Cofferer of the Household (1725-8). Their eldest son, George Clinton, 8th Earl, died as a child and was succeeded by his younger brother, Henry Clinton, 9th Earl, who also served as Cofferer of the Household, as well as Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire.
